Our history

1911

The company's history started in the second half of Nineteenth Century, when the Medici family owned a small inn where they also produced wine.
Remigio Medici decided to open up to the future starting the winery "Remigio Medici e Figli" toghether with his sons.
The winery had immediately great success, in fact in the 1911 it received the meaningful Menzione d'Onore (Honorable Mention) and the Medaglia d'Oro Croce al Merito (the Gold Medal Cross to the Merit) at the International Expo in Rome.

1911 - '45

The wine production was limited to the neighboring areas ultil the post-World War II, when the method Charmat - Martinotti was introduced giving further development to the company.
This method also allowed to obtain a modern and good product without giving up quality.

1960 - '80

Thanks to appropriate investments and a sound business policy in this period the company opened up to foreign trade achieving great success mainly in the USA, in Germany and in Belgium.
Nowadays our winery has trade relations with over 30 countries, holding high the value of quality of the brand Made in Italy.
In order to satisfy commercial requirements, the original name of the company, "Remigio Medici and Sons" has changed into "Ca' De' Medici".

2000 - TODAY

In 2006 Ca' de' Medici purchased the winery Caprari (1924), renown for its excellent wines, aiming to demanding customers, from restaurants to wine shops.
Throughout its long tradition, Medici family has always selected grapes coming from the best suitables areas.
In its uniqueness, Emilia Romagna has always been renown as a land suited to growing grapes, thanks to a wide range of historically recognized terroir.
The wines produced at Ca' de' Medici are appreciated in Italy and throughout the world for their genuine quality which differentiates them from more commercial products.
The strength of our company is and has always been our family, thattoday is represented by the generations, the fourth teaching to the fifth.
In 2011, on the 100th anniversary of its winner at the Expo in Rome and in honour of its founder Remigio, Ca' de' Medici created a new product, "Remigio Family Lambrusco".
