Our history

An experience that transcends time

The history of the Ca’ de’ Medici winery begins in the second half of the 19th century
when the Medici family owned a small tavern with its own wine production.

The "Remigio Medici e Figli"

In 1890, Remigio Medici, alongside his sons, decided to establish the winery “Remigio Medici e Figli”
to propel the business towards the future. The success of the Reggio Emilia-based company
was quickly affirmed in 1911 at the International Expo in Rome, where it received prestigious recognition:
an ‘Honorable Mention’ and the ‘Gold Medal Croce al Merito’. Initially, wine production was limited to the surrounding areas.
However, after the Second World War, the company adopted the Charmat-Martinotti method,
allowing further production development without compromising quality,
resulting in a contemporary product pleasing to the palate.

The growth of "Ca' De' Medici"

Thanks to adequate investments in the cellar and a determined commercial policy,
the company expanded its markets abroad in subsequent years, achieving significant success,
especially in the United States, Germany, and Belgium. Currently, the Antica Casa Vinicola
boasts commercial relationships with over 30 countries, promoting the value of high-quality Made in Italy.
To meet commercial needs, the company “Remigio Medici e Figli” changed its name to “Ca’ de’ Medici.”

Today

In 2006, the company acquired “Caprari,” a significant winery founded in 1924,
renowned for its excellent production reserved for a discerning clientele ranging from restaurants to wine shops.
Ca’ De’ Medici wines are valued in Italy and worldwide for their authentic quality,
setting them apart from more commercial products.

The strength of the company has always been and continues to be the family,
involving two generations today, with the fourth generation teaching the fifth.
